Welcome back to the fold guys. It's another rambling rant from yours truly. On this journey of publishing my first book. I'm excited to announce that at LincCon Gaming Convention this weekend (September 25th-27th) I'll be announcing the official release date and first book launch party! That'll be in-person, but I figure, what the heck I can spill the beans now! But... Before I do so... (Let's see if anyone stuck around rather than scrolling to the bottom.)... I wanted to share a few updates from the current status of the book release.

Well, here is where everything stands. This writing adventure has spawned a serious side hustle of digging through various subreddits and talking with folks about the best methods for getting published. Basically, I found a massive what NOT to do list. Turns out, I did a whole lot of things backwards, as is the custom with ventures I seem to dive into head first. :)

Sending off my first manuscript, even with how well I thought I proofread and edited it myself, was likely my biggest mistake. I sent it off, got amazing feedback, but then once I had a full slate of edits to work on, I had to send it back to the proofreader. That basically doubled my editing time. I guess you live and learn. It is interesting that a seven month project was really only 75 days of actual writing, while the other 137 days went into editing and creating the physical book. I had incorrectly assumed the writing would be the hard part!

We have created accounts with Barnes & Noble Press, Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and OnPress. IngramSpark is widely recommended as the best option for gaining exposure to bookstores and libraries because most shops already have Ingram accounts and can simply order copies. However, Ingram is crazy backed up, and our vendor account has been under review for nearly three months.

So, we are going to hit the road on our own, at least to begin with. We are using the other options to mass print and publish our physical copies so I can take them directly to shops myself.

Our first stop?

THE BIG ANNOUNCMENT!? OH YEAH!

Guess where I'll be on October 24th!

I will be at The Story Cellar in Wausau, WI from noon until we run out of supplies! (or until they kick me out) I'll have roughly 50 hardcover and 30 paperback copies of '3 Men & A Mountain' for sale! Hardcovers will be $25.00 each, while paperbacks will be $15 each. I'll be onhand for conversations and signing copies for anyone that wants one. I have already made contact with two other shops in the area and am planning a few more signings in November too. I'll be announcing those soon!

I'm excited to start this journey and hope I don't stumble too much more. Meh, even if I do (and I'm sure I will) I'll just get back up and keep trying! See you at the Book shop!
